Career Summary
Joe Manchu has over 30 years’ experience in accounting and audit, finance, corporate and retail banking, information communication technology, and management consulting.
His first job was with Ernst & Young where he served his articles. He then moved to Chase Manhattan Bank, where he was involved with financial analysis and research, as well as assisting with major investment transactions. After completing his MBA, Joe joined IBM as a customer facing systems engineer working with large banking customers to bring the business benefits of IT to their enterprises. He was then appointed General Manager in charge of Strategy for the African Bank (which was owned by NAFCOC at the time). He later resigned to establish his own business consulting and ICT services company.
Joe's consulting experience covers corporate strategy, innovation, enterprise development, business process improvement, change management, ICT management, and project management. He has led major projects in large organisations, working with the senior management team on organisational transformation and strategic repositioning. His most recent clients include Eskom, the CSIR, Telkom, Metrorail, Transnet, and several government departments at national, provincial and local levels. He has a proven track record amongst several major South African organisations – in the private sector as well as government.
Among other leadership positions, Joe is a member of the Board of Directors of MICT SETA , a statutory ICT industry skills body. He is also Chairman of the Training Skills & Development Committee of the Board of the SA Communication Forum .
